The office, for people who are not in one.

SwitchBoard runs the paperwork side of a plumbing, electrical or contracting business — quotes, invoices, scheduling, parts, hours and job costing — so the work you did is the work you get paid for.

What it does

One place for the parts of the job that happen away from the tools.

Quotes and invoices

Build a quote from your own price book, send it, and turn it into an invoice when the customer accepts. Staged billing for work that bills in parts.

Scheduling

Visits on a calendar, assigned to the people who are going. Customers can book themselves from a link on your website, inside the hours you actually work.

Parts and stock

A price book fed by your suppliers' price sheets, with what is on the van and what a job actually consumed.

Hours and payroll

Clock in from a phone, with the hours landing against the job so the cost of the work is the real one.

Job costing

What a job made, after the labour and the parts — not what it was quoted at.

Switch

An operator that drafts what you would rather not write, and tells you when completed work has not been invoiced yet.

Why the connections matter

SwitchBoard connects to the services a shop already uses, and asks for as little as the job needs.

  • Google Calendar — visits appear on your own calendar within seconds of being booked, and move or disappear when they do.
  • Sending from your address — quotes and invoices go out from the business's own email, so a reply reaches a person.
  • Replies come back — a customer's answer lands against the job it belongs to, without SwitchBoard reading anybody's mailbox.
What we do not ask for. SwitchBoard never requests permission to read your email or your contacts. The Google access it uses is limited to adding and changing the calendar events it creates, and sending the messages you send from inside SwitchBoard. What that means in practice is set out in the privacy policy.

Who it is for

Plumbing, electrical and general contracting businesses — from one van to a yard full of them. It is built around how the trades actually work: the price book, the van, the callback, the customer who wants a number before you leave the driveway.
